Our Story

NorthStar United Methodist Church began with a dream that God placed in the heart of Pastor Wendy Orzolek in April 2008.

It was the dream to plant a life-giving church that would connect with people who feel church is irrelevant. . . a community of faith where people felt safe to ask questions, explore their doubts, share their burdens, and be themselves . . . a place to discover together what it meant to follow Jesus and how Jesus could change their life, and they in turn could change the world.

.

The dream became a reality when NorthStar launched weekly worship in September 2011 at Exeter Township Jr High School. God continued to draw people together to build this community of faith. And, twelve years later, NorthStar was blessed with the opportunity to renovate and move into half of the former Fox theater next to Boscov's East. With their new home comes exciting new dreams of ways this space can make a difference in the community.

We'd love for you to join us on this incredible adventure of faith!

Our Name - why 'northstar'?

Just as the North Star has long been a beacon of light and hope guiding travelers to the destination they were seeking, we believe Jesus is the hope and light on our journey through life, our path to a life of purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.

Notice the cross in the middle of the star in our logo, reminding us that Jesus is our guiding light.
